In order not to find yourself in this unpleasant situation again, you would like to know an alternative solution, perhaps even more practical to use: is it so? Then I don't see where the problem is: if you want, I'm here to suggest the solution that best suits your needs.
If you give me a few minutes of your time, I can point out a series of programs to synchronize folders which will allow you to share files on all your devices and view them wherever you are. In fact, you should know that by relying on these software to be installed on your computer, you can configure the synchronization of shared folders which, using the Internet connection, allow you to access the files contained in them both from other computers and from smartphones and tablets. dropbox is among the best programs to synchronize folders. In fact, the famous cloud storage service allows you to download and install the client on your computer, useful for sharing your files directly from your device and having them automatically available on all other enabled computers.
To sync folders with Dropbox, first connect to the service website and create your account. Then enter your data in the fields Name, Surname, Email e Password, put the check mark required to accept the terms of service and press the button Subscribe, then answer the introductory questions, press the button Get started for free and click sul bottone Download on Dropbox to download the official client of the service.
Now, if you have a PC Windows, double-click the file DropboxInstaller.exe, pigia sul pulsating Run and wait for the installation to finish. If you use a PoppyInstead, open the dmg package just downloaded, double click on the icon dropbox, pigia sul pulsating apri and wait for the installation to complete. After starting the service client, enter your Dropbox account login credentials in the fields Email e Password e pigia sui pulsnti Log in e Open my Dropbox. Then complete the program configuration by selecting the option Getting started guide e pigging your pulse forward three consecutive times, then click on the button Ends And that's it.
Automatically, the Dropbox folder useful for syncing your files with all other devices. Up PC Windows, log in to File Explorer (the yellow folder icon on the taskbar) and click on the entry dropbox present in the sidebar on the left; if you use a Poppy, click the smiling face present in the Dock bar to open the Finder and select the item dropbox on the left to open the service sharing folder.
Now, all you have to do is drag and drop the files to synchronize with other devices and automatically they will be available on all computers on which the Dropbox client has been installed, on all mobile devices on which the application has been downloaded. Dropbox (Android / iOS / Windows 10 Mobile) and, of course, by accessing your service account from your browser.
You must know that the free version of Dropbox offers 2 GB of online space. To have more space available and take advantage of advanced features, such as offline access from mobile devices and file change history, you can subscribe to one of the subscription plans between Plus (9,99 euros / month or 99 euros / year) e Professional (19,99 euros / month or 199 euros / year). OneDrive is Microsoft's cloud storage service, which allows you to share files and synchronize folders both online by logging into your browser account and by downloading free software for Windows and macOS.
To synchronize folders with OneDrive, connected to the official website of the service, click on the item Sign up for free e pulsing sul pulsating Create a Microsoft account to create a Microsoft account, essential to proceed. After creating your account, go back to the OneDrive main page, select the item Download present in the top menu and, in the new open page, presses the button Download to start the OneDrive client download.
Completed the download, if you have a PC Windows, double-click the file OneDriveSetup.exe, pigia sul pulsating Run and wait for the progress bar to reach 100%. If you use a Poppy, double-click the file instead OneDrive.pkg, pigia sul pulsating Continue twice in a row and click on the item Install, then enter the password of your user account on macOS and presses the button Install software to start the OneDrive installation. Alternatively, you can also download the program from the Mac App Store.
Now, launch OneDrive and enter your email address in the field Enter your email address e pulsing sul pulsating Log in, then enter the password of your account and click the button again Log in. Then choose where to place the OneDrive folder and press the button forward, then specify which folders to synchronize and click on the buttons forward e Open my OneDrive folder to complete the setup.
All you have to do to share a file with OneDrive and synchronize the folder with all your devices, is to drag the file into the OneDrive clay folder and, automatically, it will be available on your account and on all devices. on which the service client or application for Android, iOS and Windows 10 Mobile devices is installed.
It will be useful to know that OneDrive makes available for free 5 GB of online space. To increase the space at your disposal, it is possible to subscribe to a subscription that offers for 2 euros / month 50 GB of storage space or activate one of the plans between 365 Office Staff (7 euros / month or 69 euros / year) e Office 365 Home (10 euros / month or 99 euros / year) which also allows you to have the Office package. Google Backup and Sync (Windows / MacOS)
Among the software to consider to synchronize folders there is also Google backup and sync, a tool that allows you to share files and synchronize folders between Google's cloud storage service and your computer.
To use it, you need to have a Google account: if you don't have one yet, connected to this page, enter your details in the fields Name, Surname, Username e Password, pigia sul pulsating Log in and follow the wizard to complete the creation. Now, connected to the main page of Google Drive, click on the button Download present in the box Backup and synchronization e pulsing sul pulsating Accept and download to start downloading the Google Backup and Sync client. Completed the download, if you have a PC Windows, double-click the file installbackupandsync.exe, pigia sul pulsating Run and wait for the installation to be completed, then press the button Close to close the window and start the software.
If you use a PoppyInstead, open the dmg package just downloaded, drag Google backup and sync in the folder Applications macOS and open the latter, then right-click on the program icon and select the item apri, to start the software for the first time and avoid macOS restrictions for applications from non-certified developers (next times there will be no need for this step).
After installing Google Backup and Sync on your computer, start it, press the button Start, enter your Google account login credentials in the fields Email or phone e Password and click on the button Log in, then specify which folders to make a continuous backup on Google Drive and press the button forward. Finally, make sure there is a check mark next to the item Sync my Drive to this computer and, if you wish, customize the path of the folder by pressing the button Change. Then click on the button starts to complete the program configuration.
A folder will be created automatically for sharing files with your Google account and with all devices, including smartphones and tablets on which the application is installed Google Drive (Android / iOS). To access the Google Drive folder (which is automatically synchronized as long as you have an active Internet connection) open File Explorer on Windows and Finder on macOS and select the item Google Drive present in the sidebar on the left. To share a file, drag it into the folder, wait for it to synchronize (the symbol is shown ✓ green) And that's it.
You must know that Google Drive it is free and makes available 15 GB of online space. Alternatively, different subscription plans are available that allow you to increase space: we start from a minimum 100 GB for € 1,99 / month up to a maximum of 30TB for 299,99 euros / month. iCloud Drive (Windows/macOS)
iCloud is another good solution for synchronizing folders. The famous Apple service allows you to store your files online and synchronize folders both on all devices with the bitten apple, by logging in with the same Apple ID on them, and also on Windows PC, by downloading the appropriate client .
If you think iCloud is the best solution for your needs and you use a Poppy, you should know that there is no need to download and install any software as the service is natively included on all Apple devices. All you have to do, if you haven't already done so, is to enable iCloud Drive: log in, then, at System Preference by clicking on the icon rotella d'ingranaggio present in the Dock bar, select the item iCloud and, in the new open window, put the check mark next to the option iCloud Drive, dopodiché pigia sul pulsnte options to view and choose apps that store documents on iCloud.
If, on the other hand, you have a PC Windows, connected to the Apple website and click on the button Download to download the iCloud client. Once the download is complete, double-click the file iCloudSetup.exe, presses the button Run and apponi il segno di spunta accanto alla voce I accept the terms of the license agreement, dopodiché clicca sul pulsating Install, wait for the installation to complete and press the button end to close the window and start using iCloud.
Now, start iCloud, enter your login details in the fields Apple ID e Password and click sul pulsating Log in, then make sure there is a check mark next to the item iCloud Drive e pulsing sul pulsating Close to complete the iCloud setup on Windows. To share files and sync folders using iCloud Drive, on Poppy open the Finder (The smiling face in the Dock bar) and click on the folder iCloud Drive present in the sidebar on the left; up PC Windowsinstead, open File Explorer (the yellow folder icon on the taskbar) and click on the item iCloud Drive visible on the left.
Then drag the files into the open folder and they will automatically be synchronized on all devices on which iCloud Drive associated with your Apple ID is enabled, including iPhone and iPad (via the application Fillet installed as standard). If the 5 GB of online space offered for free by the service are not enough, you should know that you can increase the space available to you by subscribing to one of the available subscription plans: 50 GB for 0,99 euros / month, 200 GB for 2,99 euros / month and 2 TB for 9,99 euros / month.
Other Programs to Synchronize Folders
In addition to the software that I proposed in the previous paragraphs, you must know that they exist other programs to synchronize folders. Here is a list with additional solutions that you can consider.
- SugarSync (Windows/macOS): is another good cloud storage service that offers 5 GB of storage for free (subscription plans are also available starting at $ 7,49 / month for 100 GB of space). By downloading the appropriate client, it allows you to synchronize the folders of the various computers with your account. It is also available as an application for Android and iOS devices.
- FreeFileSync (Windows/macOS/Linux): it is the ideal solution for those looking for a program to synchronize folders on the same computer, but also for devices connected to the network or external hard drives connected to the computer. It is free and completely in Italian.
- Allway Sync (Windows): is a software similar to FreeFileSync to synchronize folders on the same computer. More experienced users can find numerous features to configure everything down to the smallest detail. It is available free of charge for private use.
- LogMeIn (Windows / macOS): is a service that allows you to access your computer from any device, sharing files and synchronizing folders. It is available as a subscription with prices starting from 349,99 dollars / year, with the possibility to test its features by activating the free 30-day trial.
