It is available in two versions, the Standard and the Suite which stands out from the first for the presence of additional skins, an FTP client and other useful tools. It is usable only and exclusively on Windows.

Another among the programs to open RAR files that I want to invite you to pay attention to is TugZip. It is a simple and free software that offers a very wide support to all the main formats of compressed archives, both in reading and in writing.

It allows you to open files in ZIP, 7Z, A, ACE, ARC, ARJ, BH, BZ2, CAB, CPIO, DEB, GCA, GZ, IMP, JAR, LHA (LZH), LIB, RAR, RPM, SQX, TAR, TGZ, TBZ, TAZ, YZ1 and ZOO and to create ZIP, BH, BZ2, CAB, JAR, LHA (LZH), SQX, TAR, TGZ and YZ1 archives with advanced functions related to encryption and self-extracting archives. HaoZip (Windows)

HaoZip is a free software produced in China still not very well known by us (at least not as much as other similar solutions included in this selection) but which immediately stands out for its ease of use and for the wide range of supported archives.

It allows you to open RAR files but also 7Z, ZIP and other 40 different archive formats and to create 7Z, ZIP and TAR files. Its interface is interchangeable thanks to the skins and its speed of extraction / compression of the archives is very high. It is only available for Windows.

ALZip (Windows)

ALZip is an additional software to open RAR files that I want to suggest you take seriously. It is in fact a Windows program for the management of compressed archives capable of decompressing over forty file formats and creating archives in ZIP, EGG, ALZ, TAR, TBZ, TGZ, LZH, JAR format.

Its user interface is very simple to use (even if not yet translated into Italian) and the decompression speed is very high. The software is free but to be able to use it freely you need to register it with the code on the download page on the official website.

The Unarchiver (macOS)

Do you use a Mac? Then for sure you will be happy to get to know The Unarchiver. This is a free application specific to macOS that allows you to extract any file from compressed archives in RAR format with a simple double click on them (as does the Compression Utility integrated in macOS with ZIP files). Apart from RAR format, it supports ZIP, RAR, 7Z, TAR, GZIP and other types of compressed archives, including password-protected and multi-part archives.

Once installation is complete, The Unarchiver should automatically set itself as the default application for opening RAR files, so you should just double-click on any archive to have its contents extracted into the current folder.

StuffIt Expander (macOS)

StuffIt Expander is an excellent alternative to The Unarchiver that can fully fit into this tutorial entirely dedicated to programs to open RAR files. It supports all major compressed archive formats: RAR, ZIP, 7Z, TAR and many more.

It has an extremely simple user interface to use and is very fast in the data decompression process. To extract compressed archives with StuffIt Expander just drag the files onto the box icon that appears on the screen. The software is for macOS only and is free.
