How to Transfer Files from Android to Windows PC
Windows it can automatically recognize most Android smartphones and tablets. This means that to copy files from your phone to your computer, all you have to do is connect the device to the PC using a USB cable and open File Explorer, the yellow folder icon located at the bottom left of the taskbar.
The first time you connect your smartphone (or tablet) to your computer, you have to wait a few seconds for Windows to identify the device and install its drivers. During this procedure you will see a message appear in the notification area of the operating system (next to the clock) and a small progress bar on the taskbar.
If Windows can't identify your device correctly, try a Google search using the terms [name of your smartphone or tablet] driver. In this way, you should easily find the necessary drivers for the computer to recognize your smartphone / tablet.
Please, download the drivers only from official sites of the manufacturers of smartphones and tablets or in any case from sites of proven reliability, the risk of running into some malware is very high!
Once you have connected your smartphone (or your tablet) to the computer via USB cable, open theFile Explorer Windows (the yellow folder located at the bottom left of the taskbar) and select the item computer o What PC from the side bar of the sinistra.
At this point, double-click on the icon of your smartphone / tablet and you will have access to all the folders on the device memory: in the one called Download there are all the files downloaded from the Internet, in the one named DCIM there are photos and videos and so on.
To copy files from Android to PC, just do the most classic of copy-and-paste. Then click with the right mouse button on the file to be copied, select the item Copy from the context menu and go to the folder on the PC where you want to paste the file. At this point, right click anywhere in the folder and select the item Paste from the Windows context menu. That's all!
To import photos and videos to your PC in an organized manner, dividing them into folders and applying tags, go to computer (o What PC), right click onyour smartphone / tablet icon and select the item Import images and videos give the menu check if you press.
It was used Windows 10 o Windows 8.x, you can import photos and videos into the application as well Photos, which is included “standard” in the operating system, through its function Import easily accessible from the main window.

If, after selecting the icon of your smartphone (or your tablet), you can only view the folders related to photos and videos, it means that the device has been connected to the PC in camera mode (which, precisely, gives access only to the photos and videos present on the device memory).
To get full access to the other folders on the terminal, expand the Android notification menu (swipe your finger down from the top of the screen), select the icon for the USB connection and, in the screen that opens, put the check mark next to the item Multimedia device (MTP).
How to Transfer Files from Android to Mac
I use a Mac? In this case, to access the files on your smartphone / tablet you need to install Android File Transfer, a free tool that allows macOS to correctly recognize Android devices and manage the files on their memory.
To download Android File Transfer sul tuo computer, go to the website of the program and click on the button Download Now located in the center of the page. When the download is complete, open the file androidfiletransfer.dmg, drag the icon Android File Transfer in the folder Applications of macOS, start the software for the first time and that's it.
From this moment on, every time you connect your smartphone / tablet to the Mac, Android File Transfer will automatically start, which will allow you to copy the files of your interest to your computer with a simple drag-and-drop (i.e. dragging their icons into the destination folder).
To import photos, you can safely rely on the application Photos, I also told you about it in my tutorial on how to transfer files from Android to Mac.
Full Android Backup
Simply transferring files from your Android smartphone / tablet to your PC may not be enough, perhaps because there are so many and the procedure could be tedious. In this specific case, a full backup data might be the wisest choice.
If you want to create a backup of your smartphone or tablet (thus also having the possibility to restore all the data following a device reset), you can rely on ad hoc applications or official software released by hardware manufacturers. How to Transfer Files from Android to PC with WiFi
Would you transfer files from Android to PC without physically connecting your smartphone or tablet to your computer? No problem, you can do this too. Just install one of the many applications that allow you to share files in wireless.
Your Phone (Windows 10)
Su Windows 10 application is available Your phone which allows you to connect an Android smartphone and be able to perform some operations, such as making and receiving calls, sending and replying to SMS, receiving notifications and downloading photos directly from PC.
Thanks to this last feature, you can transfer the photos in your gallery in a few simple clicks. The desktop application is already pre-installed on PCs with Windows 10, but just in case you can still find it on the Microsoft Store. To use it, you need to download the app on the Android smartphone you interact with Complement of Your Phone, which you find on the Play Store.
Once this is done, the first PC configuration starts: start the application Your phone and fai clic sul tasto Android. Once this is done, log in with your Microsoft account or, if you don't have one, create it following the advice I gave you in this guide.
Now, in the screen that is shown to you, put a check mark on the box Yes, I have finished installing Completing Your Phone, in case you have already installed the app on your Android smartphone, and press the button Open matrix code.
At this point, you will be shown a QR code: launch the app Complement of Your Phone on Android, click on the wording There is a QR code on the PC and squares the QR code you see on your computer screen.
By doing so, a connection will be established immediately between your Android smartphone and your Windows 10 PC, allowing you to manage different features of your mobile device without necessarily having to have it near.
To save your smartphone photos on your PC, go to the tab Photos in the desktop application Your phone and click on miniature than the one you want to transfer. Now, press the button Save with name, located at the top, and indicates the folder where to save the photo. It was easy, wasn't it?
AirDroid (Windows / MacOS)
Among the best apps that allow you to transfer files from Android to computer wirelessly there is AirDroid, which is compatible with Windows, macOS and with any operating system (eg Linux) thanks to its Web version.
AirDroid does not limit its operation to just transferring files, but also allows you to send and receive SMS from your PC, view Android notifications on your computer and even allow you to remotely control Android. Although this last feature can be used on any device, it is easier and more immediate to use it on those on which the root procedure has been carried out.
This service is completely free, but has a 200MB / month remote transfer limit, which can only be removed by signing up for a subscription at a cost of $ 2,99 / month or $ 24,99 / year. If the transfer takes place on a local network, there are no quota limits.
To use the app AirDroid, download it on your smartphone (or tablet) via the Android Play Store and, after starting it, create a free account by filling out the form proposed in the section Registration.
Alternatively, if you want to do this first, click on the icons of Google, Facebook o Twitter and authenticate through one of your online accounts. When the operation is completed, tap the button Continue and allow the app to access device features.
At this point, go to your computer and download the AirDroid client for Windows or macOS from the official website. When the download is complete, if you use Windows, double-click the file .exe obtained and then press on the keys Yes, OK, forward, Accept e Install.

Now you can move on to transferring files from Android to PC: then launch the app AirDroid on your smartphone / tablet, press the tab Transfer (below) and select the name of your computer from the screen that opens (eg. Android Desktop). If you don't see the name of your PC, make sure it is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your smartphone or tablet.
Then choose whether to transfer the Images or Video present in the Android library, of the photos taken in real time with the Camera of the device, of the Music or any generic file (File Management). All these sending options can be found by tapping on thepaperclip icon, located at the bottom right of the screen.
As mentioned above, AirDroid can also be used directly from the browser: just connect to the official website of the service using any of the supported browsers (eg. Chrome) and connect to your AirDroid account.
Pushbullet (Windows / MacOS)
Another great app that allows you to share files wirelessly, view notifications and send / receive messages on your PC is Pushbullet, which works via an extension for Chrome and Firefox browsers or via desktop client for Windows.
Pushbullet, like AirDroid, is free but has some limits that can only be eliminated by signing up for a paid subscription. The application base plan includes a 25MB limit for each file transferred and 2GB of storage overall, while the Pro plan ($ 4,99 / month or $ 39,99 / year) offers 1GB limit for the transfer of each file and 100GB of total storage.
To use Pushbullet, download the app on your smartphone via the Play Store, launch it and choose whether to log in via your account Google (recommended) or your account Facebook. Then press the button Enable and allow the application to access the Android notification system by moving to ON the toggle located next to its name.
At this point, accept the activation of the functions related to Message and remote files and download the desktop client via the official website. In this guide of mine, I will limit myself to showing you how to configure your PC using the extension for Google Chrome. Via the link I provided, click on thegoogle chrome icon, to be directed to the Chrome Web Store. Once this is done, click the button Add and then Add extension, nel riquadro che ti comes mostrato.

The file, after a few moments, will be sent to the PC and a notification will be shown right on thePushbullet icon in Google Chrome, top right.
Transfer Files from Android to PC Online
Another very easy way to copy files from an Android device to a computer is to contact the services of Cloud Storage.
With cloud storage services you can create a sort of online hard disk in which to keep your files. These files, once a special client is installed on the computer, will be automatically synchronized on the PC without you having to lift a finger.
