With today's guide, we will find out in fact how to sync android phonebook with cloud services such as Gmail and Outlook.com and with other devices, such as the iPhone. The procedure is extremely simple to carry out and involves a two-way synchronization of information: the contacts modified or created on the phone are automatically brought back to the cloud service associated with it, and vice versa.

Just one last warning before we start: if you add a second Gmail account or Outlook.com account to a phone on which a Google account has already been set up, when creating a new contact be careful to correctly select the account with which you intend to sync it (the one from Gmail you originally set up on your phone or the new one you added on your device later). Clear? Well, then let's get to work right away!

Synchronize Android Address Book with Gmail

If you have associated your Android smartphone with a Google account, the contacts in the address book should already be synchronized with the Gmail address book.

To verify that the sync feature is active, go to settings Android (the gear icon found in the menu with all the apps installed on the device) and select the item Account from the screen that opens.

At this point, "tap" on the logo of Google, select yours Gmail indirizzo and make sure the lever located next to the item Contacts is set to ON (then moved to the right). If not, activate it yourself and the synchronization of contacts will start automatically.

In case you haven't yet set up a Google account on your phone, go to the menu Settings> Accounts Android, select the item Add account from the screen that opens and "tap" on the logo of Google.

Then log in with your Gmail account, make sure that the item relating to contact synchronization is active and that's it.

If you don't have a Gmail account yet, you can create it directly on your smartphone by selecting the item Or create a new account from the screen that opens after selecting the Google logo from the Android menu.

Do you want to synchronize the Android address book with that of Outlook.com? No problem, this can also be done.

The procedure you need to follow is quite similar to the one we saw earlier for Gmail. You have to go to the menu settings Android (the gear icon found in the menu with all the apps installed on the device) and select the item Account from the screen that opens.

At this point, "tap" on the item Add account, select the icon Exchange and type in your mail address outlook.com (Or live/hotmail) in the appropriate text field.

Synchronize Android Phonebook with PC

If you want to export Android contacts to your computer - in programs like Outlook, Thunderbird or Apple Mail - all you have to do is create a file VCF containing all the names in the address book and feeding it to your favorite email client.

The operation is much simpler than you imagine. To export contacts from Android, open the application Contacts, pigia sul pulsating (...) collocato in alto a destra and seleziona la voce Import / Export give the menu to compare.

If you are using a Samsung smartphone, after entering the app Contacts, select the scheda Contacts, pigia sul pulsating [...] and select the item Settings from the menu that appears. Then go up Contacts and finally choose the option Import / Export.

At this point you have to choose whether to create the VCF file with Android contacts directly on the phone memory (by selecting the item Export to archive) or on one SD card (by selecting the appropriate option).

When the operation is complete, use an application such as ES File Manager to auto-send you the VCF file via email and import it on your PC into your favorite mail client: you can find out how to do it in my guide on how to open VCF files.

Synchronize Android Address Book with IPhone and / or ICloud

You also have an iPhone and would like synchronize Android phonebook with that of your "iPhone by"? In this case, you can resort to various solutions.

You can connect the Gmail address book to your iPhone and let the contacts be automatically synchronized on both devices (there is a tutorial in which I have explained to you in detail how to do it). In this case, the iPhone contacts are no longer saved on iCloud but on the Gmail address book.

Alternatively, you can "manually" export contacts from Android (as a VCF file) and import them to iPhone by following my guide on how to import contacts to iPhone. In this other case the changes applied on Android or iOS are not automatically synchronized on the other system but the iPhone contacts continue to be loaded normally on iCloud (so in a sense you can synchronize the Android address book with the iCloud one) .

Would you like to do the reverse process and copy contacts from an iPhone to an Android smartphone? In this case, read my tutorial on how to transfer contacts from iPhone to Android and you will quickly find out how.
