Unlock the Locked SIM

When trying to deactivate or change the PIN of the SIM inserted in your Samsung smartphone or tablet, you have entered the code incorrectly more than three times in a row and now you are no longer able to access the card as this appears to be locked? Don't worry, you can easily cope with this by typing the PUK code associated with the card.

When you make a mistake with your SIM PIN more than three times, access to the SIM is blocked and a warning appears on the phone display asking you to enter the PUK code. In case you have never heard of it, the PUK (acronym for "Personal Unblocking Key") is an eight-digit code that is used to unlock the SIMs to allow their holders to access the network again and completely after the relevant PIN was entered incorrectly several times in a row.

You can find your SIM's PUK code in telephone contract or on the back of the slip in plastic that contained the card. Furthermore, some telephone operators (eg. Vodafone) allow you to recover the PUK also fromonline personal area or by contacting the relative customer care. For more information on what to do, I invite you to refer to my guide specifically dedicated to how to recover the PUK code.

If you have entered the PIN incorrectly, you will be prompted to enter the PUK code. After doing this, you will need to type a new PIN to be used twice in a row. Alternatively, open the app Telephone, pressing on the relative icon (the one with the green background and the white handset) that you find in Home Screen and / or in drawer (the screen where there are the icons of all applications), presses the button with the numeric keypad at the bottom right and type in Dealer (the numeric keypad, in fact) the string ** 05 * PUK * New PIN * New PIN #.

For example, if the PUK code is 00000000 and you want to set the new PIN with 1234, dial the code ** 05 * 00000000 * 1234 * 1234 #. The subsequent appearance of a specific message on the screen will inform you of the success of the operation.

Note, then, that if the PUK code is entered for more than ten times incorrectly, the SIM comes locked completely. In this case, the only way to remedy this will be to request the replacement of the card.
