If you don't know how to print in black and white documents, images or other content that is originally in color, know that the solution is just a click away. All you have to do is change your printer settings before printing and that's it. The operation is feasible from both Windows and macOS. Furthermore, by putting the right precautions into practice, it is possible to obtain the same result even on portable devices equipped with Android or iOS.

Rest assured you will get great quality prints and save your color cartridges from what would have been an inevitable replacement. Try it now! All that remains for me is to wish you good reading and, above all, good press!
Print in Black and White on Windows
Let's start with the most general indications: those relating to how to print in black and white on a PC equipped with the operating system Windows.
To print in grayscale on Windows, open the web page, document or color photo you intend to transfer to paper and select the print function. Typically, the Print is present in the menu Fillet of programs, although in some browsers, such as Google Chrome or Firefox, it is found in the ☰ menu, which is usually located at the top right.
Once you have recalled the print command (which, if you want, you can also recall by typing the combination Ctrl + P on the PC keyboard), in the window that opens, select with the mouse the printer you want to use to create your black and white print and click on the button Pref Renze (Or Settings o options, it depends on the program).
So go to the card Color or in the tab Paper / Quality (the name may vary slightly in your printer's control panel), put the check mark next to the item Greyscale (Greyscalein English) or Monochrome click her cousin OK and then Print to save your settings and start your black and white printing.
As already mentioned, the printer configuration panel varies from model to model, so you may find slightly different items than the one I just indicated.
Print in Black and White on Mac
If you have one Poppy, you can print in black and white using the specific function provided by the macOS print menu. Then open the content you want to print (be it a document, a photo, a Web page or other) and call up the command Print from the menu Fillet which is located at the top left. Alternatively, if you prefer to use keyboard shortcuts, you can achieve the same result by pressing cmd + p.
In the box that opens (the one with all the print settings), select the printer to be used via the appropriate drop-down menu. After that, if next to the field Copy find the option Bianco e nero, put the check mark on it and start the print content by pressing the appropriate button. This way, printing will be done in grayscale and not in color.
If, however, next to the field Copy you can't find the option Bianco e neroclick on your button Show details to see all the print settings, select the item Media and quality from the drop-down menu located at the bottom right and locate the menu related to colors. Then select the option to print to greyscale and starts the print process to get a document (or photo) in black and white instead of color. It wasn't difficult, was it?
Print in Black and White in Word
You need to print a document Word consisting of many pages and, in order not to consume all the color cartridges, would you like to print it in black and white? Nothing could be easier: below I'll explain how to operate both from Windows and macOS using the most recent versions of Office (from 2007 onwards).
If you use a PC Windows, open the Word document to print, press the button Fillet collocato in alto a sinistra and selects the voice Print from the menu that opens. At this point, use the drop-down menu Printer to select the printer to use, click on the item Printer properties and, in the window that is shown to you, activate the option for grayscale print.
Unfortunately, at this stage, I cannot be extremely precise in my indications as each printer has a configuration panel structured in a different way. In the case of my Canon iP100, for example, there is the option Grayscale print to be checked on the tab main, but the location and exact name of the option may vary from printer to printer.
If you use a Poppy, you can print a Word document in black and white simply by invoking the command print from the menu Fillet (or by pressing the key combination cmd + p) on the keyboard and setting the item Bianco e nero in the drop-down menu Preset of the window that opens.
Print in Black and White in Chrome
If you use the Google Chrome browser, know that this has a customized print menu, thanks to which you can set the printing mode in black and white. Now I'll explain how to do it (the steps to take are the same on both Windows and macOS).
Once the Web page or image to be printed is displayed, press the ⋮ button located at the top right and select the item Print from the menu that appears. On the page that opens, click on the button Modification located under the name of the printer currently in use, in order to choose the printer to use, expand the drop-down menu A colori and select the option In black and white from the latter.
Finally, adjust the other print settings, press the button Print and wait for your document to be produced in monochrome mode. Easier than that ?!

Would you like to create a Black and white PDF starting from a web page, a photo or other printable content that you are viewing on your PC? Nothing impossible, indeed. Find everything explained below.
Windows 10 has a virtual PDF printer included "standard" but, unfortunately, this does not allow you to print documents in monochrome mode. Now I tell you how it works.

When the download is complete, open the Bullzip PDF Printer installation package (Setup_BullzipPDFPrinter_xx_FREE.exe ) and click on the button first Yes and then OK.
Then place the check mark next to the item I accept the terms of the license agreement and complete the setup by pressing on first forward for four consecutive times and then on end. If necessary, three additional software components will be downloaded and installed from the Internet: rest assured, because these are not promotional content, but free software necessary for the functioning of Bullzip PDF Printer.
Once the installation is complete, open the content you want to turn into a black and white PDF and invoke the command print from the menu Fillet. In the window that opens, select Bullzip PDF Printer as the printer to use, click the button Pref Renze, select the scheda Paper / Quality from the window that is shown to you and put the check mark next to the option Monochrome.
To conclude, click on your button OK, by your complaint Print and proceed with saving your PDF following the instructions on the screen.
If you use a Poppy, open the file you want to print and call the command print from the menu Fillet located at the top left (or press the key combination cmd + p on the computer keyboard). In the window that opens, expand the drop-down menu PDF located at the bottom left and select the item Open in Preview from the latter.
The pages you want to print will automatically open in Preview - the default macOS application for viewing photos and documents in PDF format. At this point, call up the voice Save from the menu Fillet located at the top left, expand the drop-down menu Filtro Quartz present in the window that opens and choose the option Black & White (if you want to get a black and white PDF) or the option Gray Tone (if you want to get a grayscale PDF) from the latter.
Finally, choose the folder in which to export the PDF, type the name you want to assign it in the appropriate text field (above) and click on the button Save to save it.
