If the answer is yes, fear not, I am here, ready to explain everything that is possible to do for open XLSX files.
Before explaining how to open XLSX files, however, I want to specify what it is. Clearly if you are reading this guide it means that you have some problems opening XLSX files and that, consequently, the Office package is not installed on your computer. In order to install the well-known Microsoft home productivity suite on your PC and then to open XLSX files with Office, I suggest you follow my guide on how to download Microsoft Office.
Once downloaded and installed Office Excel will automatically be set as the default program to open, view and edit spreadsheets. This therefore means that to open XLSX files all you have to do is click on it twice in a row and wait for the Excel window and therefore the contents of the file to be visible.
If, on the other hand, the Office package is already installed on your computer but in a version prior to 2007, in order to open XLSX files, you just need to download and install Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack, a free plugin made available directly by Microsoft in order to address this and other compatibility problems between vile formats and versions of Office.
To download the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack on your computer click here in order to connect to the download page of the plugin. Then press the button Download and wait for the download to start and finish.
Then open the installation package FileFormatConverters.exe which is now available on your PC, put the check mark next to the item Click here to accept the Microsoft Software License Terms (Or Click here to accept the Microsoft Software License Terms) present in the window that opens and first click on Continue and then OK to finish installing the add-on.
Then, to open XLSX files, all you have to do is double-click on them so that you can view them directly in Excel.
Another valid solution to open XLSX files and then to resort to the use of Excel Online part of the Office Online service, the online version of Office.
To open XLSX files with Office online click here to connect to the official web page of the service and then press the button Log in located at the top right, fill in the appropriate fields displayed on the screen by typing the information required for login and then press the button Log in.
Proceed now by dragging all the XLSX files you want to open into the browser window (so that they are added to your online space on OneDrive). At the end of the upload click on the icon of the XLSX file you want to open and wait for a preview to be displayed directly in the window of the web browser in use.
Opening XLSX Files with LibreOffice
You can also use the program to open XLSX files Calc included in LibreOffice, the free productivity suite, open source, often used as an alternative to Office and compatible with Windows but also with OS and Linux.
So if you intend to open XLSX files and if LibreOffice is not already installed on your computer, click here to connect to the suite's official website, then press the button Download now and then on the button Download the xxx version where instead of xxx you will find the number of the most recent version of the program and wait for the download of the suite to be started and completed.
When the download is complete, open the software installation package and follow the simple wizard shown on the screen to start and complete the installation of the suite.
When installation is complete, LibreOffice will automatically be set as the default program for opening certain types of files and to be able to open XLSX files, just double-click on the item you want to view.
Keep in mind that if your computer is a Mac you will also need to download the Italian language pack by clicking on the appropriate link on the LibreOffice download page.
When the download is complete, to configure the language pack, simply open the dmg file you downloaded previously and double-click the icon displayed.
In case LibreOffice for Mac or its language pack does not work try to open them by right clicking on their icon and selecting the item apri give the menu to compare.
Open XLSX Files with Numbers
If you want to find out how to open XLSX files and use a Mac, know that this is an operation that can be carried out without problems by using Numbers, the application dedicated to creating, editing and viewing spreadsheets part of Apple's productivity suite.
If Numbers is already installed on your Mac, opening XLSX files is very simple. To succeed, all you have to do is double-click on the file you want to view. Then wait for the program window to be visible.
If, on the other hand, your Mac Numbers is not installed, you can download it by clicking here, by clicking View in the Mac App Store and then pressing on the button Get attached to the Mac App Store window that opened. Then wait for the download and installation of Numbers to start and complete after which you will be able to open XLSX files without any kind of problem.
