Wait now for the RAR Archiver download to start and complete then close the Mac App Store window and do absolutely nothing except double-click the RAR file you intend to open on Mac. In fact, the program will automatically set itself as the default application to open RAR with Mac.

Note that by default RAR Archiver extracts the contents of all archives in one folder. If you want to change the destination of the files start the app, go to its settings by selecting the item Preferences from the menu RAR Archiver and then set in the drop down menu Save folder the option you think best suits your needs.

If instead of opening RAR with Mac you want to create new archives you will have to start RAR Archiver and drag all the files you want to include in the compressed package into the window that is shown on the screen.
