Quite often, games and programs that you download from the Internet are bundled in ISO images of CDs / DVDs which in turn are compressed and broken up into a multi-volume archive (ie composed of several packages). This happens because in this way the distribution of data takes place in a more convenient way and you can individually replace the damaged or offline parts of the archives, but this solution does not always make life easier for those who have to download the files, indeed.
I bet that you too have found yourself several times in the presence of such an archive and not knowing how to merge ISO files to get the final game or program. That's why today I decided to make a guide on this topic and to explain how to extract your CD and DVD images using WinRAR, one of the best programs in the world for managing compressed archives (zip, rar, etc.) that supports even ISO files. Once the 40 days of the trial version have expired, even with the display of an advertising banner at each start, the software will continue to work.
Be vuoi scoprire how to merge ISO files, the first step you need to take is to connect to the WinRAR website and click on the first button WITHDRAW placed under the heading Latest final version - 4.01 to download the program to your PC.
When the download is complete open, double clicking on it, the file you just downloaded (wrar401it.exe) and, in the window that opens, first click on Yes (to authorize installation on Windows 7 and Vista) and then on Install, OK e Close to finish the installation process of WinRAR.
Now you are ready to merge ISO files and to extract your game or program downloaded from the Internet from the multi-volume archive. To do this, you need to go to the folder where you have saved all the "pieces" of the ISO image (eg. image.iso.r01, image.iso.r02, image.iso.r03, etc.) and double-click the one with the .rar extension (eg. image.iso.rar). If no archive “piece” with this extension is available, then open the one with the lowest number (eg. 00 o 01) but in this case you have to manually select WinRAR from the list of programs that appears by placing the check mark next to the item Select the program from a list of installed programs.
At this point, it should have opened WinRAR and inside the program window you should see the ISO file of the game / program plus other files included in the archive (eg DVD files, documentation, etc.). Then select all these files with the mouse and drag them to any folder to extract them and finally merge your ISO image. At the end of the procedure, you can use the newly merged CD / DVD image as you wish: burning it to a CD / DVD or mounting it on a virtual drive with programs such as Daemon Tools. After merging the original ISO file, the various “pieces” of the archive in which the latter was contained can also be deleted.
