You are in the process of buying a smartphone Huawei but, before proceeding in this sense, you would like some more information about installing the apps. You have in fact learned that on some models of the famous Chinese manufacturer there is no classic Google Play Store, but a proprietary store, HUAWEI AppGallery, and therefore you do not know what the installation methods are actually available to users.
That's the way it is, am I right? Then don't worry: in today's tutorial, I will explain to you in detail how to install apps on huawei, showing you all the solutions at your disposal. First of all, I will clarify your ideas about the latest Huawei devices and HUAWEI AppGallery, the store present on the latter in place of the Google Play Store (which, I already tell you, contains everything you might need!); after that I will tell you about the workarounds to get the apps that are still missing on AppGallery.
All you have to do is set aside five minutes of free time and consult the quick instructions below. I assure you that, at the end, you will know everything there is to know about installing apps on Huawei terminals. Happy reading and have fun!
If you are wondering how to install apps on huawei, most likely it is because you have purchased or are about to buy a Huawei device among the most recent ones (eg Mate 30 Pro, P40 lite, Mate Xs, P40, P40 Pro or P40 Lite) and you know that on the latter you do not there is the Google Play Store.
Did I guess? Well, then let yourself be reassured: the most recent Huawei devices do not include Google services and the Play Store, but they still manage to offer a complete, satisfying and safe user experience. The credit goes to the ecosystem of services Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) which guarantees the saving and synchronization of data in the cloud, access to dedicated services for the use of multimedia content (music, videos, etc.) and - what I want to focus on in this guide - a rich alternative store to that of Google : his name is HUAWEI AppGallery and already offers a lot of interesting possibilities.
The most popular apps and games are already available on the HUAWEI AppGallery, such as TikTok, Telegram, HERE WeGo, Amazon and Microsoft Office). Also there are instant links to download other popular apps, such as Facebook, WhatsApp e Zoom, from their respective official sites and the Quick App, that is, apps that work without first having to download and install on your phone, such as Uber, Airbnb, Privalia, Glovo, JustEat, Twitter, Trenitalia, Wikipedia , Zalando, Mediaset Play e ATM Milan.
In short, there is really everything you need and the catalog is constantly expanding. But it doesn't stop there! On the HUAWEI AppGallery, in fact, there are several promotions e gifts exclusively for platform users (e.g. the possibility to participate in the draw of a Huawei smartphone by downloading certain apps or the possibility of obtaining free Premium subscriptions for apps and welcome bonuses for games).
as to safety, it should be emphasized that the apps added to HUAWEI AppGallery, before being approved, are subjected to four levels of control; therefore the store contains only verified and safe contents for the user. That said, I'd say take action and see, in detail, how to download apps from HUAWEI AppGallery.
First of all, even if it is not a mandatory operation, I highly recommend that you access the Settings of your smartphone and, if you have not yet done so, to associate a HUAWEI ID to your device, thanks to which you can synchronize data with the cloud and enjoy the best of all HMS services, including the HUAWEI AppGallery.
Start, therefore, HUAWEI AppGallery (with a tap on the relevant icon on the home screen) and, if this is the first time you start the store, grant it all the permissions necessary to function properly. Once this is done, you can go in search of the apps and games of your interest.
At the top of the screen is a practice search bar which allows you to search for apps and games by title; immediately below there is a large area in which the highlighted contents scroll; icons follow for quick access to Giochi, Gifts, Promotions e Wishlist, while scrolling the page you can find various groups of apps and games, divided according to different criteria: new loved apps, new beloved games, most popular apps, top collections and so on.
At the bottom, then, there is the navigation menu to access recommended (the main screen of HUAWEI AppGallery), Categories (to browse apps and games based on the categories they belong to), rankings Tops, to section Manage (to manage apps) and to the section User (to manage your user profile).
Once you have identified the app or game you want to download, all you have to do is press on its icon, to view the descriptive card with information, screenshots, comments, etc. .. and then on the button Install (at the bottom of the screen), to start the download. At the bottom of the screen you will also find icons for share the app (on the left) and add a comment (on the right).
Most of the content available on the HUAWEI AppGallery is free, but there is also some for a fee or containing in-app purchases. For payment you can use a credit / debit card or Huawei Points, i.e. digital credits that can be earned by participating in various activities proposed by Huawei.
With regard to Quick App, that is, the applications that can be used without first being installed on the device, you can easily find them by scrolling down the main page of HUAWEI AppGallery and pressing on the voice Other related to the section Quick App.
This will open the page with all the Quick Apps (or, alternatively, you can also search for them directly by title, using the bar at the top): once you have identified the one to install (eg. Uber, Airbnb, Privalia, Glovo o JustEat), tap on his first icon and then on the button apri.
The selected Quick App will start immediately and you can also add its icon on the home screen, like the "traditional" apps. Later, you can manage your Quick Apps by going to the menu Manage> Quick App Management on the HUAWEI AppGallery.
Now everything should be clear enough. For more information, however, you can read my tutorial on how the HUAWEI AppGallery works, in which I showed you how the Huawei store works in even more detail.
As just said, come on HUAWEI AppGallery there are already many popular applications, but some apps that you used to use on your old smartphone, such as those from Google, may not be available. What to do in this case? Should we give it up? Absolutely not!
Huawei devices with HMS offer various possibilities and allow you to install apps also from external sources compared to HUAWEI AppGallery, so you don't have to make any sacrifices (on the contrary, the absence of Google services leads to a general increase in performance and autonomy).
For example, instead of gmail, you can use the default app E-mail to manage e-mail and configure your Gmail account in the latter; YouTube it can be used safely from the browser (with the possibility of creating a shortcut on the home screen) and other applications can be installed from third-party stores, via apk packages.
As for the Google apps, these work without problems, but there may be some slight limitations in the features offered: for example Maps it works in its entirety but does not allow you to log in and therefore to save your favorite places.
That said, in relation to installing apps not yet present on HUAWEI AppGallery, I would like to tell you about FindApp: it is an application developed by a team of Italian developers that allows you to draw on the most reliable and complete app databases available online and to download applications and games from them.
You can download TrovApp directly from HUAWEI AppGallery, following the directions I gave you earlier. Once this is done, start the app and identify the content of your interest. To do this, you can take a look at the list of popular applications and games on the main screen (which you can sort by popularity or for nameby pressing on the appropriate items located at the top); alternatively you can search by category by pressing on the item Filter by category and ticking the categories of your interest (eg. Audio and music, food, photo, games and so on), or by title, using the appropriate bar placed at the top.
Once you have found the app you are interested in, click on its icon and then on one of the buttons you find under the item Click to install. Depending on the case, you may need to download the apk package needed to install the app from its official website or from another Android app store, such as Amazon Appstore o ApkPure.
In the first case, the web page will open from which to download the installation package of the selected app. Therefore, all you have to do is press the button download for free and confirm the download of the file, through the warning that appears on the screen (below).
Once the download is complete, all you have to do is open the notification menu (from which you can also follow the progress of the download), by swiping from the top of the screen to the bottom, and press on the name of the apk package.
In the screen that is shown to you, then press on Allow, Then Install and wait for the app installation to complete automatically.
In the case of third-party stores, however, you will first have to download the latter and then use them to get the applications of your interest.
As regards Amazon Appstore, for example, after pressing the button on the store in question within TrovApp, you will be redirected to the Amazon site, where you will have to press on download button of the chosen application and then on that for the store download.
Once you have downloaded the apk package Amazon Appstore, install it as explained above; then start the store, log in with your Amazon account and go back to FindApp.
At this point, select the app of your interest again in TrovApp and press the button related to Amazon Appstore. Finally, on the page that opens, choose to open the Amazon store app and complete the download from there, by clicking on the appropriate key.
At the end of the download, you will be offered the classic installation of the apk package of the application (or game) of your interest.
You just have to follow the instructions I gave you previously and, in a few moments, you will find your application or your game ready to be launched on the home screen.
If you have a Huawei smartphone on which Google services are still present, as a result, the Play Store, evidently you are reading this guide because you are at the very first weapons with Android and you do not know how to use it.
Well, I'm happy to announce that this is really a no-brainer! For starters, if you haven't already, go to the Settings of your device (theicona dell'ingranaggio located on the home screen) and associate a Google account to the latter, by pressing on the items Accounts> Add account. More info here.
At this point, all you have to do is open the Play Store (the colored ▶ che symbol on the home screen) and search for the app or game of your interest: you can browse the proposals highlighted in the main screen of the store; access rankings e category, by clicking on the tabs at the top, or search by name, using the appropriate field present at the top of the screen.
Once you have identified the app you are interested in, click on its icon, then on the button Install and, if necessary, confirm. If you have not yet associated a payment method valid to your account, you may be asked to do so (you can use a credit / debit card, phone credit or decline by pressing the Ignore).
If any steps are not clear to you, you can find more information on how to install applications on Android in my tutorial dedicated to the topic.
Other Solutions to Download Apps on Android
The flexibility of the Android operating system allows you to download apps and games from any source. You get an apk package, open it and, as seen before, in a few taps the game is done.
This, however, also uncovers the potential side security risks. In fact, there are non-certified stores and sites that spread malicious applications designed with the aim of stealing the data of the users who install them and cause other damage to the latter (eg the display of very invasive advertising content).
In light of the above, my advice is to install apps only from well-known stores, such as HUAWEI AppGallery, Play Store e Amazon Appstore, or from the official sites of the various apps (e.g. the sites of Facebook e WhatsApp).
For the rest, be wary of sites and apps that allow the download of apk packages, as they could spread malware and make you take unnecessary risks for your privacy. On the stores just mentioned you can find everything you need, and even more!
