Automatically Suppress Program Opening Screens

As anticipated at the beginning of the article, to eliminate the opening screens of the programs from the computer you can first resort to the use of a special tool: SplashKiller. It is in fact a completely free software, no-install, running on any version of the Windows operating system and very easy to use which is used precisely for the purpose in question. Let's see how it works right away.

First, go to the program download page and click on the link Download that you find in the upper part of the same in order to immediately download the software on your PC. At the end of the download, extract the compressed archive you just obtained into any folder on your computer and then open the program SplashKillerRunner.exe.

Now, try starting the programs that previously showed the poorly tolerated opening splash screens. As you can see for yourself, the screens when starting the software have all disappeared, almost as if by magic!

Sometimes, but the cases can be counted on the fingers of the hands, programs may not work properly without their splash screen. If this happens, do not worry, re-enabling the splash screen of a given software is child's thing, always using SplashKiller.

In fact, just right click on the program icon (the one in the shape of crown) found in the Windows notification area (next to the system clock) and select the item Config give the menu check if you press.

At this point, click on the button Add application located at the bottom and select the program whose splash screen you want to continue despite using SplashKiller. Then click on the button OK to ensure that the changes made are actually applied.

If for any reason you change your mind, you can remove the exception you have established for some programs, returning to the SplashKiller options as seen together above, selecting the program item to be removed and clicking on the button Remove application. Also in this case, then remember to press the button OK to ensure that the changes you made to the software configuration are applied.

Manually Delete the Program Opening Screens

Don't like the idea of eliminating program opening screens by using third-party software? You don't want to remove the splash screen of all the software in use on your computer but only those of some of them and the idea of having to add exceptions to SplashKiller annoys you? Then try to put into practice the procedure, so to speak, manual, of deactivating the screens in question.

Of course, the thing is a little less rapid and immediate than what we saw together in the previous step but I dry you that there is nothing particularly complex to do. Find more details on what to do right below.

first Method

In most cases, to be able to manually delete the splash screens it is sufficient to intervene on the link relating to the reference program, adding a special string to the latter. To be more precise, the first step you need to do is right-click on the shortcut icon of the program on which you want to go to act on the desktop and / or in the Start menu and choose, from the context menu that is shown to you, the voice Property.

In the window that you will later see appear on the screen, locate the wording Destination: and add the string –nologo in the adjacent field, at the end of the path already indicated (e.g. in the case of LibreOffice, the path of the program with the following string becomes C: Program Files (x86) LibreOffice 5 program soffice.exe ”–nologo). Then click on Apply and subsequently on OK to ensure that the changes made are actually applied. If you see a warning appear asking you to authorize changes by providing administrator permissions, click on Continue.

Now, try to start the program and you will see that its splash screen will no longer be visible. If, however, despite the changes you continue to display the annoying screen, it is most likely because the above “trick” has not proved effective for the reference software. In that case, you can try to practice the procedure indicated in the next step.

If, on the other hand, you have second thoughts, you can always and in any case retrace your steps and therefore make the splash screen visible again by going to the properties of the program connection as seen together above and removing the string  –nologo from what is reported under the item Destination:. Prize for your Apply and OK to confirm and apply the changes.

second Method

As an alternative to the above procedure or in any case in the event that the instructions I have already provided you have proved ineffective, you can eliminate the opening screens of the programs by going to act directly from the settings of the software of your interest, when a special option.

Usually just access the program settings related touser interface, remove or add the check in the box next to the appropriate item and confirm the changes made. In case of second thoughts, as can be easily deduced, just carry out the reverse operation.

For example, if you want to disable the JDownlaoder splash screen you have to start the program, go to the menu Settings by pressing on the appropriate item located in the upper left part of the window, then select the wording User Interface from the left sidebar and check the box next to the item Silent mode che trovi in corrispondenza della sezione Activity management. Alternatively, press the button with the window and the "x" which is on the software toolbar.

It should be noted that in most cases the same options are available on both Windows and Mac (and also on Linux) and that therefore by putting the procedure in question into practice it is possible to eliminate the opening screens of the programs on the various operating systems for which these are available, as in the case of JDownlaoder.
