Twitter, for reasons that I and many others overlook, prevents the download of the videos from its web version (therefore from its website) and from its official apps. However, this does not mean that there is nothing to be done. Indeed, downloading videos from Twitter is very simple, just turn to the right solutions.

The “right” solutions to which I refer are online services and those that allow you to “capture” the videos on Twitter and download them offline, not only on PC, but also on smartphones and tablets. Would you like to know more? Well then, take five minutes of free time and read on. Below you will find explained how to download videos from twitter by wire and by sign using some of the best applications and the best online services currently available on the market.

It should be emphasized that the instructions I am about to give you apply to both movies and animated GIFs, which Twitter automatically transforms into MP4 files and therefore can be downloaded as common videos (and then possibly reconverted into GIFs using special programs). App to Download Videos from Twitter

Would you like to be able to download videos from Twitter without using your computer? Nothing impossible, indeed. There are apps for Android and iOS / iPadOS that allow you to do everything in a very simple way directly from smartphones and tablets. Here are a couple of practical examples.

Total (Android)

If you want to download a video or an animated GIF from Twitter and use a terminal Android, you can rely on Total: a free browser with integrated download manager that allows you to "capture" multimedia content from any site and online service and download them offline.

To download a video (or a GIF) from Twitter using Total, all you have to do is download the app through the Play Store, start it, browse the initial tutorial, give the application the permissions necessary for its operation and connect, with the its integrated browser, a Then log into your account (if you deem it appropriate) and start playing the video of your interest.

Total Files (iOS/iPadOS)

If you use an iPhone or an iPad, you can download videos from Twitter using Total files: this is the iOS / iPadOS version of the app that I also recommended for Android, so it is a free browser with integrated download manager that allows you to “Capture” videos streamed on any web page, including those of Twitter.

As TDownloader is not an app officially created by Twitter, Apple or another giant in the hi-tech sector, I do not recommend using it to directly access your Twitter account. It is not particularly risky for privacy, mind you, but being an app produced by third parties, it is better not to give it too much data in hand!

In light of what has just been said, I suggest you open the official Twitter app and to copy the direct link to the tweet that contains the video of your interest. In this way you can give the link "in meal" to Total files and proceed to download the video starting directly from it.

If you don't know how to copy the link of a tweet in Twitter for iOS, locate the tweet that contains the video you want to download, press the icon of the sharing (the arrow that goes up) present under the latter and first select the item Share tweet via ... from the menu that opens and then the icon Copy link from the iOS share menu.

At this point, start Total files, pigia sull'icona del globe which is at the bottom right and paste the address of the tweet in the address bar of the application (just make a long "tap" on it and select the item Paste from the menu that appears).

Finally, start playing the movie and, when the box with written appears Do you want to download this content?pigia sull'icona (). So choose a name to assign to the video and presses the button end located at the top right to start downloading it on the memory of your iPhone or iPad.

Once the download is complete, the movie will be accessible from the Total files main screen and from the application Fillet iOS (by going to the menu Browse> Locations). It can then be exported to other apps or to your computer.
