As is well known, until July 2016 Windows 10 will be available as a free update for all users of Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. All you need is a genuine copy of the Microsoft operating system and the new version of Windows is automatically downloaded from Windows Update, as if it were a normal update. But what to do if you want to perform a clean installation of the operating system or if you want to update multiple PCs in sequence?
The answer is to download a Windows 10 ISO image from the Internet and burn it to a DVD or USB stick). To help you find out how, today I offer you a simple tutorial on how to download ISO Windows 10 in which we will see together how to download Windows 10 on your PC and how to copy its installation files to a DVD or USB key. I assure you that it is an extremely simple operation to carry out that does not require any particular technical knowledge.
All you need is an average fast Internet connection, an empty DVD or USB stick, and a PC that meets the minimum requirements for running Windows 10. Read on for more details, all explained below.
What Do You Need
- A computer that meets the hardware requirements for Windows 10: 1GHz processor or higher; 1GB or 2GB of RAM depending on the version of Windows 10 you want to install (32-bit or 64-bit); 16-20 GB of free disk space; video card with DirectX 9 support with WDDM 1.0 driver; a display that supports a minimum resolution of 800 × 600 pixels.
- An average fast Internet connection: the Windows 10 ISO image weighs about 3GB, do the math!
- A blank DVD: a standard 4.7GB DVD is enough. If you don't have a DVD handy, you can create a USB stick with the Windows 10 installation files using Microsoft's Media Creation Tool.
- A DVD burning software: there are tons to choose from. If you use Windows 7 or later (or have a Mac) you can also use the burning tools included "standard" in your operating system.
- A valid product key: to activate Windows 10 you can purchase a license for the operating system in question or you can use a Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 product key, but beware, this possibility is only offered by Windows 10 November Update (version 1511) and later. If you install Windows 10 on a PC on which you have already activated a copy of the operating system, the activation will be done automatically by digital right. More info here.
