Free Word and Excel Password Recovery Wizard (Windows)
Office documents, and especially those of Word and Excel, are among the protected files you may find yourself dealing with more often, not knowing the passwords needed to open them. In this case, the suggestion I would like to give you is to rely on the use of Free Word and Excel password Recovery Wizard, an excellent program at no cost for Windows that allows you to reveal the passwords of the files in question based on two types of attacks: the brute force one, which tries to discover the keywords character by character by trying various combinations, and the dictionary, which allows you to crack passwords meaningfully using terms included in a dictionary file.
To use it, first connect to the download page of the program and click on the link Download FREE Word and Excel password recovery Wizard 2.1.15 (1.4 Mb). Once the download is complete, extract the ZIP archive obtained in any location on your computer and then open the .exe file contained within it.
Now, click on Run, Then Si and subsequently on Next. Select quindi la voce I accept the agreement and click to anchor your Next four times in a row then press on install and finally presses on Finish.
Once the program window is displayed on the desktop, press the button Next located at the bottom right and then press the button KATEGORIEN and select the Word or Excel file to unlock. Then press on Next four consecutive times and finally start the password search by clicking on Go.
At the end of the procedure, if everything went well, a window should open with the password needed to decrypt your file.
And if you are sure that the password of the file that you intend to decrypt is made up of full meaning words (in English), you can also find the access key by going to Select Approach of the software. Then press the button Brute Force Attack to select the English dictionary file you want the program to use and start the password recovery procedure by pressing Next and Go.
Advanced Archive Password Recovery (Windows)
How many times have you found yourself in the presence of protected ZIP and RAR archives from which you were unable to extract the files because you did not remember the password? I bet a lot, and that's why I want to advise you Advanced Archive Password Recovery. This is a program for Windows OS able to fulfill the purpose in question by exploiting the type of attack called brute force. It is free but in this variant it allows you to find passwords up to four characters, for the longer ones you need to switch to the paid version.
To use it, first connect to the download page of the program on the Softpedia website by pressing the button Download located at the top, click External Mirror 1 and wait for the Advanced Archive Password Recovery download to start.
When the download is complete, open the .exe file obtained in order to start the installation procedure. In the window that opens, click on Next, its Accept, then up again Next twice in a row and to top it off install. Then click on Si and then on the button Finish to finish the setup.

Should you then come up with some details referring to the password to be identified to decrypt the file, you can refine your search so as to reduce the time required for identification by using the tabs available in the main program window.
Appnimi PDF Unlocker (Windows/Mac)
Another situation in which you may find yourself with some frequency is that of having to decrypt a file in PDF format without knowing the opening password. For such a case, my advice is to use Appnimi PDF Unlocker. This is a commercial program (but usable in a trial version, the one I used to write this post) for Windows and Mac that allows you to "find" the passwords of PDF documents using brute force and dictionary modes.
To use it, first connect to the program website and click on the button Download for Windows (if what you are using is a Windows computer) or on Download for Mac (if you are using a Mac).
When the download is complete, if you are using Windows, extract the compressed archive obtained in any place on your computer and start the .exe file contained within it. Then click on Si, its Next and I Agree. Successfully piggy his install and to conclude press on Finish.
If you are using a Mac, extract the downloaded compressed archive to any location on your computer and drag the application icon that was inside it into the folder Applications of macOS. Then right click on the program icon and choose apri for two consecutive times in order to open the program going around the limitations imposed by Apple against unauthorized developers.
Now, regardless of the operating system used, in the Appnimi PDF Unlocker window that is shown to you, type your name in the field Full Name below and your e-mail address in the field Email then click on the button Get Free License Key to obtain a special code via email to try the program for free. Then paste the license code obtained in the field under the heading License Key I awarded her Activate.
Click on the button now Select File and select the PDF to decrypt and then use the menus at the top to set the mode of action of the attack to use (Brute Force), to adjust the keyword dictionary settings (Dictionary) e per intervenire sulle impostazioni relative alla lunghezza della presunto password, al type di caratteri usati ecc. (Options).
Finally click on Start and wait for the software to identify the correct password, which at the end of the procedure will be shown in the field adjacent to the item Recovered Passwordat the bottom of the program window.
Please note: In order to function, the software needs Java installed on your computer. If it is not present on your PC, read my tutorial on how to install Java to find out how to fix it right away.
If the resources to decrypt a file I mentioned in the previous lines did not satisfy you, you can consider using an alternative solution such as Hashcat. It is a free and open source program that allows you to find the passwords used to protect various types of files using dictionary attacks, brute force and more.
It works on Windows, Mac and Linux but unfortunately does not have a graphical interface, so you have to act as a command line, which makes it a little more complex to use by those who do not consider themselves a "geek". In any case, nothing impossible with a little healthy and in-depth study about it.
To download it, first connect to the Hashcat website and then if you are using Windows download the ZIP archive that contains the software by clicking on the link Download related to the option hashcat binaries and extract its contents to any folder.
If you are using a Mac instead, install the package manager Homebrew (giving the command / usr / bin / ruby -e "$ (curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/master/install)" in terminal) and proceed with the software installation using the command brew install hashcat.
Then worry about finding the’hash, ie the identifier, of the document to decrypt, then copy and save it in a text file. Therefore, proceed to download the dictionary you want to use. There are many around the Web, personally I recommend that of rockyou (to be extracted from the zip archive at the end of the download).
At this point, you need to worry about discovering the password of the file. In case, for example, the file to be decrypted is a Word document, you can do it by starting the Command Prompt Windows or the terminal macOS and giving the command hashcat -m –status -o output.txt , where instead of you must enter the identification code of the version of Office with which the document to be unlocked was created, instead of you have to enter the full path of the txt file where you saved the hash of the Word file, while instead of you must enter the full path of the dictionary file you downloaded earlier. After a few seconds of processing, Hashcat will start looking for the right password.
For further information on what to do and to fully understand the functioning of the program, I strongly suggest that you rely on the official forum of the same as well as perform targeted searches on Google depending on the type of file in relation to which you intend to intervene.
