So, first of all, open the app in question (and, if requested, allow it to access the memory, answering affirmatively to the warning show yourself); now, tap on the tab Clear located at the bottom and wait a few moments for the application to analyze the contents of the memory.

Once the analysis is complete, the potentially useless files will be divided by category: unwanted files (i.e. temporary files created by apps), meme, duplicate files, screenshot, multimedia content of WhatsApp and other messaging applications, unused apps, downloaded files e large files.

Now, tap the button Select and free [XX GB / MB] placed inside the corresponding box, put the check mark next to the item All the elements, to delete the entire contents of the category, or to each of the files to be deleted; when you're done, tap the button Delete to delete the selected items, bearing in mind that thethis operation is irreversible and results in the permanent loss of files.

Finally, if you believe that one or more categories should not be checked (because, for example, you want to keep the files present in them), locate the respective tabs and make one swipe left / right at their previews, to ignore them.

As for the management of Photo and videoInstead, I advise you to consider Google Photos, a service (with its app) offered by "big G" to automatically archive on the cloud and synchronize on all devices connected to the same Google account photos and videos on your device, with no space limits and at no cost (if you agree to limit the revolution to 16MP for photos and 1080p for videos): I told you about it in more detail in a dedicated tutorial.

After backing up your media files, you can physically delete them from the device, again using the aforementioned app: don't worry, the files will remain stored in the cloud and always available within Google Photos.

To do this, start the Google Photos application, tap on your avatar placed at the top right and then on the item Free up space, located in the panel that appears (make sure that the wording is present in the latter Backup completed). How to Clear Huawei Phone Memory

If, however, it is your intention to understand how to clear Huawei phone memory, I advise you to give a chance to Optimizer, a default app that allows you to perform various maintenance tasks on your device, including deleting unnecessary / potentially useless files.

To use it, start the app by recalling it from the drawer of the device, tap the button related to Cleaning and wait a few moments for the device memory to be analyzed. Once the verification is complete, you should be shown a summary screen, containing the potentially superfluous items stored in memory, divided by category (eg. Spam files, app data, residual files, WhatsApp, unused apps and so on).

To delete all the files belonging to a specific category, in one go, tap the button Remove corresponding to it. But keep in mind that deleting files is final and it cannot be undone: for this reason, if you have any doubts, I recommend that you manually check the files found and decide whether to delete them or not. To do this, tap the name of each category and, after locating and selecting the files to delete, tap the button Delete And that's it.

On some not very recent devices from the manufacturer, however, it is available Telephone Management which works in a rather similar way to the solution seen above. Other Methods to Clear Android Phone Memory

If you feel that the solutions I have given you above are not enough, you can consider using additional methods to free up space on your device.

  • Use an app to free up space - looking on the Play Store or on alternative markets, you will notice that there are numerous apps dedicated to cleaning Android, many of which, however, only do damage. My advice is to stay away from it: if you are looking for an all-in-one solution for cleaning your smartphone, you can take a look at SD Maid which allows you to delete, even in bulk, useless files and little used applications. It should also be used with a grain of salt, but it is definitely more reliable than the average of apps of this type. More info here.
  • Delete unwanted content in messaging apps - primarily WhatsApp. Find out how to do it in my tutorials on how to clean WhatsApp and how to delete files from your phone.
  • Transfer files and apps to microSD - if you have a smartphone with microSD support, you can use the latter to host files and applications, thus decreasing the internal storage space occupied. More info here.
  • Transfer files to PC - if you really can't do without the files in the device memory, you can consider moving them to your computer and storing them in a safe place: if you don't know how to connect Android to your PC, please refer to the specific guide that I have realized on the subject.
  • I will use the cloud - if you don't have a computer, you can keep the files you care about most in the cloud: services such as Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive are designed specifically for this purpose and, among other things, offer automatic backup features, for some categories of content.

How to Clear the Phone Memory: IPhone

Contrary to what we have seen on Android, there are currently no applications capable of automatically optimizing the memory of theiPhone, due to the severe restrictions imposed by Apple on developers and, nevertheless, some “standard” mechanisms aimed at improving the management of available space.

For example, iOS allows you to automatically uninstall unused apps, but leaving the data on the device, ready to be used at the next installation; to enable this feature, go to the menu Settings of iOS, by tapping on thegear resident in Home, tap on the item App Store and move up ON the levetta relative alla voce Remove apps you don't use.

Still talking about apps, iOS allows you to find out which ones take up the most space on the iPhone and, if necessary, delete them: access the Settings of iOS, go to the sections General e IPhone space and wait a few moments for iOS to analyze the internal space of the phone.

Following this operation, you should see a screen containing the list of all the apps installed on the iPhone, in descending order of occupied space: to delete those that take up more space and / or deem superfluous, tap on their name e premium pulsating Uninstall app, to cancel the application leaving the data intact, or Delete app, to delete both the app and its data.

As regards, however, the photo and video management, I advise you to activate theautomatic iPhone space optimization: in this way, the photos and videos made through the "iPhone by" are stored online in original quality, while on the device are stored only versions optimized in terms of space.

To enable this feature, go to the menu Settings> Photos of iOS and tick next to the entry Optimize iPhone space. For this service to work, iCloud Photos must be active on the iPhone in question. This is a service similar to Google Photos which, however, erodes the storage space on iCloud Drive (basic 5GB) and therefore "forces" to subscribe to a paid plan for the latter.

Speaking of which, you'll be pleased to know that Google Photos, the “big G” service dedicated to the storage (even free of charge) of photos and videos, is also compatible with the iPhone and allows you to delete files already uploaded to the cloud on the fly. So, after installing the app and backing up all the multimedia contents in memory, tap on your avatar placed at the top right, then on the items Photo settings, Manage storage space and finally on the button Free up space.

As I already explained to you in the opening bars of this section, there isn't much else you can do to automate free space management on iPhone. Personally, to check for unnecessary or superfluous files, I recommend opening the app regularly Fillet (included "standard" in the operating system) and to check the contents of the folders Download ed Recently deleted; this last position, in particular, contains the files deleted by the "iPhone by", awaiting definitive deletion.

To delete a file, long tap on its preview and select the item Delete / Delete now from the panel that appears.

If the space available is still insufficient for your needs but, at the same time, you need all the files in memory, you can contact a cloud storage service and store them there: iCloud Drive, for example, is the service made available by Apple, integrated within iOS, which allows you to get 5 GB of space for free and to obtain additional paid packages, with prices starting from € 0,99 / month for 50 GB. For more details, I refer you to reading my specific article on iCloud Drive.
