Have you ever heard of the CRO? No? No problem, I'll explain immediately what it is. The CRO is an acronym that stands for "transaction reference code" and is used to distinguish the various bank transactions that are carried out in a simple, rapid and error-free manner. It is made up 11 numeric digits (except for Poste Italiane which has a CRO of 15 digits but the first four simply identify the Post Office) which vary with each banking movement in such a way as to allow the customer to be distinguished in a univocal way and without margin of error. refers.
The CRO is usually required to check whether the banking transaction has been carried out or not, as in the case of wire transfers, and it may be useful to contact ad hoc instruments or your bank to make sure that the code obtained is correct and that the transaction in question has actually been carried out.
As I told you, for check CRO it is possible to use some tools accessible from web browsers as well as specific solutions, so to speak, offline. If you are interested in this and if you want to know more, continue reading my article on the subject. In fact, below you will find all those that, in my humble opinion, represent the best solutions through which, in fact, check CRO. Enjoy the reading!

Find the CRO Code
Before explaining to you which tools can be used to verify CRO, it seems only right to provide you with further details about this code and above all how and where you can find it. Regardless of the home bank and the type of transaction carried out, the CRO code is explicitly indicated in the details of the transaction performed. You can therefore easily distinguish it from all other data relating to the transaction in place since in its correspondence you will find the wording explicitly indicated CRO code.
In some cases, however, the CRO is provided coupled with the code TRN, acronym for "transaction reference number", consisting of 30 digits and where the digits go sixth to sixteenth position represent, as a rule, the CRO. This is a sort of evolution of the CRO, which entered into decline in 2016, after the advent of the SEPA unifiques, i.e. those that affect the countries of the European Union and those that, although not formally part of it, accept the same banking conditions.
So, to put it in more penny terms, if you can't identify the CRO in the details of your banking transactions and instead find yourself in front of the wording TRN code or that one CRO / TRN code, do not worry: just extract the series of digits between the sixth and sixteenth from the latter and you're done!
On the other hand, when a transfer made by the sender to the beneficiary is made within the same bank, the CRO code is no longer present but the CRI, acronym for “internal reference code”. It has practically the same functions as the CRO in that it allows the bank transfer holder to verify that the payment has been successful. For more info, read the dedicated page on Wikipedia.
In addition to, as I have indicated above, you can obtain the CRO (but also the TRN code and the CRI code) by requesting it directly from your bank.
Now that you finally have a clearer idea about the nature of this code and how to find it, I would say that you are finally ready to take the real action.
So take a few more minutes of free time and focus on the information below to find out how to check CRO. It's much simpler than you might think, don't worry!
Do you want to check CRO directly online? No problem, it can be done and, I'll tell you more, it's probably the easiest way to do this. To do this, you just need to use the web service Verificacro.it.
To use it, first of all take note of the CRO code you intend to verify, then connect to the main page of Verificacro.it using the link I have provided you just now. Then, type the reference CRO code in the field below the item Enter CRO or TRN of the Italian bank transfer that you find in the center and click on the button Verifica.
Once this is done, take a few moments and you will be shown the result of the verification. If the CRO code you entered is correct, you will see a color box appear green with written inside It is a formally correct CRO / TRN!. If not, then if the data you provided is incorrect, you will be shown a color box red with the notice Doesn't appear to be a formally correct CRO!.
Regardless of the outcome of the "test", keep in mind that the service in question obviously cannot give you the certainty that the transfer has actually been carried out but only serves to verify whether the CRO number is theoretically valid or not.
If you prefer, you can also use a special software for Windows operating systems to verify CRO. It is about Mind, a program that acts as a personal organizer and which, among the various available functions, integrates one through which it is possible to ascertain the real correctness of the CRO codes. The program is available in various versions, one free, which acts as a simple agenda, and other paid versions with extra features. Unfortunately, the function that allows you to verify the CRO code is only available in the paid version of the software so my advice is: download the free variant of Mind, evaluate if, possibility to verify CRO separately, it is a tool that interested and possibly proceed with the purchase of the paid version also useful for the purpose in question.
To download the free version of Mind on your computer, connect to the download page of the program using the link I indicated earlier and click on the green button that says Download che trovi in corrispondenza della dicitura Mind Free. So wait a few moments for the software to download to your computer and then start the file mind_organizer_setup.exe ottenuto and click on your button forward.
Then put the check mark next to the item I accept the terms of the license agreement and click on the button again forward three times in a row. Then press on Install, Then Si and, finally, click on end.
At this point, start the program by double clicking on its icon that has been added to the desktop or by selecting its name from Start menu, click on the buttons Close e Continue to start using the evaluation copy of the program and then presses the button in the shape of switch in the window that opened on the screen.
Then click on the item Means present at the top of the desert and choose the voice Formal verification of CRO number ... from the menu that is shown to you. Then type the number of CRO in your possession in the field that you find next to the item CRO number and click Verify Formal Validity. You will therefore be offered the purchase of the paid version of the program. If you think it does your chaste, go ahead and then you can finally be sure of the speed of the CRO code as I have just indicated. If not, simply decline the offer.
Another system to check CRO is to use the special tool that is made available for some services of home banking.
So, if you have a bank account that gives you access to this type of service, you can make sure of the real correctness of the CRO code in your possession by starting the appropriate tool usually attached to the section relating to personal services and tools for account management, type the code in the appropriate field, click on the button to carry out the verification procedure and wait a few moments to receive the relative response.
You can also succeed in yours by directly addressing the branch of your bank, either by going in person to the latter or by telephone, and ask the employee with whom you will find yourself talking to carry out all the necessary checks. All you have to do is provide the CRO code in your possession, confirm that you are the holder of the reference account and wait a few moments to get the information you need.
If you don't remember how to reach your bank branch or if you don't have your bank's telephone number at hand, you can appeal to the very famous Yellow Pages online. Subsequently you will see a list of all the banks referring to what was typed previously. To know all the details of the case (telephone number, route calculation, etc.), click on name than you are interested in and consult the appropriate card that is shown to you. For more information, read my on how to find mediate address which I have proceeded to explain not only the operation of the Yellow Pages online but also other Web services that can be useful in circumstances of this type.
