Burn ISO with Nero

Now let's move on to the third-party resources that can be used to burn ISO files from PC. Among the various available on the square, I recommend you in the first place Black. If you have never heard of it, this is a historic and famous burning suite for Windows operating systems. It is paid (it has prices starting from 49,95 euros, depending on the version chosen) but a free trial version is available that works without limitations for 14 days.

To download the trial version of Nero Burning ROM (which is the basic version of the program, without the extra utilities introduced later by the developer, not useful for your purposes), visit the Nero website and press the button Download placed next to the software name. Then type yours email address in the appropriate field displayed on the screen and click on the button Download now. Once the download is complete, open the file .exe obtained and, in the window that appears on the desktop, check the box to accept the terms of use. Next, click on the button forward and wait for the installation procedure to be completed, then click on the button Start Nero and insert a blank CD or DVD into the burner connected to your computer.

Now that you see the main program screen, click on the button Nero Burning ROM and close the screen New compilation that is shown to you. Also close the windows through which you are invited to switch to the paid version of the software that may eventually open.

Now, select the item Burner present at the top left, choose the option Burn Image and open the file ISO of your interest. Next, select a writing speed from the drop-down menu Writing speed, check the box Check the written data (if at the end of the process you want to check the burned disc) and click on the button Write placed at the bottom.

Burn ISO with CDBurnerXP

If you are looking for a totally free alternative to Nero to burn ISO, I recommend that you consider using CDBunerXP: it is a freeware software, easy to use and also available in a convenient no-install variant that allows you to copy and burn CDs and DVDs and to modify image files.

To download the portable version of the program on your PC, go to the CDBunrerXP website, select the link More download options which is at the top and click on the wording 64bit or on that 32-bit (x64 compatible) (based on the version of Windows you are using) that you find in correspondence with the item Portable version.

Once the download is complete, extract theZIP archive obtained in a folder of your choice on your computer, then open the file .exe present inside. In the window that is now shown on the desktop, click on the button OK, to confirm the use of Italian as the interface language, select the item Burn ISO Image and click on the button again OK.

Now, insert a blank disk into the burner connected to the PC, press the button Shop by Department in the CDBurnerXP window and select select theISO image of your interest. Then proceed to select your burner from the drop-down menu Target device and choose one writing speed from the adjacent menu.

Finally, check the box Check the data on the disc after writing (if you want the data on the disc to be checked when the burning process is complete) and start burning by pressing the button Burn located at the bottom right.

Burn ISO with ImgBurn

If you need a no-cost but more advanced solution to burn games, movies or self-starting discs (which the Windows utility and CDBurnerXP may not process correctly), don't think twice and install ImgBurn. This free application supports many types of image files and works with CD, DVD and Blu-Ray. Note that the software, in addition to burning ISO files, also allows you to create them.

To download ImgBurn on your computer, visit the program's website, select the link Mirror x – Provided by MajorGeeks and, in the new page that opens, click on the item [email protected]. Then, visit this other web page and download the file for the Italian translation of the program (by default, ImgBurn has an English interface).

Now, open the file .exe obtained earlier and click the buttons Yes e Next in the pop-up window on the screen. Check the box I accept the terms of the License Agreementclick on your bottone Next, for another four consecutive times and complete the setup by pressing the buttons Yes e Close.

At this point, extract the file italian.lng of the translation fromZIP archive you previously downloaded and move it to the path C:Program FilesImgBurnLanguages of the PC. If, to complete the operation, you are asked to confirm this, click on the button Continue.

Now insert a blank disk into the burner connected to your computer and start the program by double clicking on collegamento that was added to the desktop. Once the ImgBurn window appears on the screen, select the option Burn an image.

All you have to do is insert a blank disk into the burner connected to the Mac, right click on theISO file icon you want to burn and select the entry Burn disc image "[file name.iso]" to disc give the menu answer.

In the window that at this point is shown to you on the screen, select your burner from the menu Burn disc, set a writing speed via the menu Speedclick on your button Burn at the bottom and start the procedure by pressing the button again Burn.

If you want the media to be checked after the disc has been written to, please also select the option Verify burned data.

Burn Energy Drink

If you are looking for an alternative tool to the macOS "standard" function for burning image files, I suggest you consider using Burn Energy Drink, a free and very easy to use application which allows you to create data discs, audio CDs, video DVDs and ISO files. It hasn't been updated for some time, but it still works perfectly.

To download the program to your Mac, visit its official website and click on the link Download Burn that you find on the right.

How to Burn ISO with Ubuntu

If you are a user of Ubuntu, one of the most famous and appreciated Linux distros in the world, I inform you that even in this case you can burn ISO files in a very simple way: to do this, I suggest you consider using Brazier, a free burning software.

To install Brasero on your PC, open theUbuntu Software Center (by clicking on the relevant orange shopping bag icon located on the left sidebar), click on the button with the magnifying glass at the top of the window that appears, type "Brazier" in the search field, select the relevant risultat and click sul bottone Install. When prompted, also enter the password of your user account on Ubuntu and click the button Authentic.

Afterwards, start Brasero by clicking on the button starts comparso sullo schermo oppure selecting the relative icon just added to Launchpad and, in the window that opens on the desktop, click on the button Burn Image.

At this point, click on the button below the item Select a disc image to write and select il file ISO of your interest, insert an empty disk into the burner connected to your computer and choose it from the drop-down menu under the heading Choose a disc to write to. Finally, start burning by pressing the button Create image.

How to Burn ISO to USB

Did you know that in addition to the "classic" diskettes ISO files can also be burned on USB sticks? Yes, this is an operation that is particularly useful when, for example, you need to install a new operating system on your computer, booting from the USB key. Rufus

If you are using a PC Windows, you can consider using Rufus: it is a free software through which you can create bootable USB sticks starting from specific ISO images, in particular those of the operating systems (it is also possible to download them directly).

To download the program to your computer, go to its website and click on the link Rufus xx Portable, which you find in correspondence with the section Download.

Once the download is complete, open the file .exe obtained and, in the window you see appear on the desktop, click on the button Yes. Then, connect an empty USB stick to your computer, click on the button once again Yes, to check for updates and make sure that in the Rufus window your USB key is selected from the drop-down menu Device / unit, which is at the top (otherwise you provide).

Then click the button with the arrow placed at the checkmark and select the option from the drop-down menu that opens Select (to personally select the ISO to burn on the USB stick) or Download (if you want to download and burn one of the supported operating systems to a stick).

If you have chosen the first option, click on the button Select and choose the file ISO of your interest present on your computer, then indicate the file system you want to use from the drop-down menu File System and assign a name to the volume label by typing it in the field Volume label.

If you have chosen the option Download, instead, first proceed as follows: in the new window that is shown to you, make sure that the is selected operating system of your interest from the appropriate drop-down menu and click on the button Continue. Another program that can be used to burn ISO images to USB sticks is UNetbootin, which is available for both Windows and macOS and Linux and is free and easy to use. Allows you to select ISO files of your choice or to directly download those of Linux operating systems.

To use it, first download it by visiting its website and clicking on the button Download.

Regardless of the operating system used, in the UNetbootin screen that you now see on the screen, check the item Disk Image / Diskimage located at the bottom, make sure that the option is selected in the drop-down menu next to it ISO (otherwise you do it yourself), click on the button [...] adjacent and select the image file you intend to write to the USB stick.

Then connect an empty USB key to the computer, select from the drop-down menu Type / Type the option Unità USB/USB Drive, from the menu Drive / Drive placed next to the USB key unit and click on the button OK, then wait for the procedure to be completed.

If, on the other hand, you want to create a USB stick with a Linux distro and you do not yet have the relative ISO file, select the option Distribution / Distribution placed at the top, choose the distribution and version from the adjacent drop-down menus and proceed in the same way as I indicated earlier.
