Download Play Store on Tablet

Due to the timing and costs associated with Google's certifications, many Android tablet manufacturers (especially those that focus on the cheapest market segments) bring to the stores devices that do not have the Play Store, the virtual store from which it is you can download the apps for the “big G” mobile platform.

It is a bit boring, I know, but with a little commitment the situation can be put right and you can download the Play Store on tablet of any brand: now I'll explain how to do it, with my guide specifically dedicated to the subject.

So make yourself comfortable, take a few minutes of free time just for you and start concentrating on reading what is reported below. Don't worry, you won't have to do anything particularly complex. You just need to put in a minimum of effort and pay attention to the steps to be taken and it's done. I wish you a good read and I wish you a big good luck for everything!

Preliminary Operation

Before getting to the heart of the tutorial, then before going to explain what are the operations that must be performed to be able to download the Play Store on tablet, there are some preliminary operations that you need to do to make sure everything runs smoothly.

To begin with, I invite you to make a data backup present on your device, useful for restoring photos, contacts, videos, etc. in the event that something during the installation procedure of the Play Store should go wrong (or if you need to unlock the bootloader of the device, since this operation involves the deletion of all the data on the device).

To back up your data, you can use apps designed for the purpose or specific software for your computer: for all the details of the case, refer to my guide specifically dedicated to how to backup on Android.

Another indispensable condition for the installation of the Play Store is that the tablet is unlocked by root. If you do not know what I am talking about, I inform you that it is a procedure thanks to which it is possible to bypass all the restrictions that usually prevent access to the deeper areas of the system. It is 100% legal, but often it invalidates the warranty of the device on which it is performed and, in the case of unlocking the bootloader, it also involves the loss of all data on it. For more information, you can check out my guide on how to root Android.

Another thing you need to do in advance is to enable the support for unknown origins on your tablet, by acting on the Android settings. By doing so, you will be able to install packages from external sources from the Play Store: having a device without Play Store, the setting should already be active by default. In any case, for more details, see my article on how to install APK files on Android.

How to Download Play Store on Android Tablet

After completing the preliminary steps above, you are finally ready to take the real action and go and find out, therefore, how to download the Play Store on your tablet. The operation can be done by putting into practice two different procedures: one includes the download of individual APK files, while the other involves the use of aspecific application, through which it is possible to largely automate the whole procedure.

Personally, I suggest you prefer the first system, which is a bit longer and more complex, it is true, but it allows you to have more control over the various operations to be performed. Also, keep in mind that there are potentials as well alternative roads, which you can find out by trying to Google keywords like "How to download Play Store [tablet model]" and that you can evaluate to follow if by following my instructions you fail in your intent (unfortunately some devices need specific procedures).

Standard Procedure

If you have chosen to follow the first procedure, first worry about installing on your tablet Link2SD: an application thanks to which it is possible to force the movement of apps on the SD card and convert standard applications into system applications (operation through which it is possible to bypass the "crash" error after the "forced" installation of the apps by Google).

To do this, take your tablet, unlock it, log into the drawer, open the browser you usually use to surf the Net (eg. Chrome) and go to this page of the APKMirror website dedicated to the Link2SD app. Therefore, identify the most recent version application and press the button with the down arrow that you find in its correspondence, then on the latest variant number and then on the button Download aPK. If necessary, confirm the download by tapping on the word OK. If you are also asked which application you intend to use to download the file, select the browser you are using.

Once the download is complete, open the APK package obtained by pressing on the item apri in response to the warning shown to you at the bottom of the display and / or in the Android notification center. Then, tap on the items Install e end.

Now, you need to install a file manager on your device (if you haven't already done so). Among the various file managers available, I recommend that you use Files by Google, which you can find from this other page of the APKMirror website, by carrying out the same steps that I described in the previous lines regarding Link2SD.

At this point, you can proceed by going to download and install the Play Store and all the "dependencies", that is, the other software useful for its operation. As for the download of the Google Play Services, go to this Web page of the APKMirror website, select the most recent version of the app and the version suitable for your device, then press the button Download aPK. If you don't know what the correct build is, analyze the values Architecture, Minimum version e Screen DPI or do a Google search.

Once the download procedure is complete, use the file manager to go to the folder Download and select the APK package of Google Play Services. Once this is done, if necessary, it indicates that you want to complete the operation using Package installation, tap the button Install and finish the procedure by pressing the buttons Next / Install, Install e end.

At this point, start Link2SDselect l 'icona di Google Play Services from the list of installed apps, tap the button with i three dots vertically that you find in the upper right part of the screen and choose the option Convert to system app from the menu that opens, then apply and save the changes made by tapping on the item OK. Subsequently, restarts he tablet.

Then, download the Google Services Framework, taking it from this APKMirror page, and del Google Play Store, which you can download from this other web page. Then proceed with the installation of the APK files obtained, putting into practice the same steps that I illustrated in the previous lines regarding Google Play Services.

If everything went well, in the end you should finally find yourself in the presence oficona from Play Store (the multicolored ▶ ︎ symbol) in the Android drawer and you should be able to access it.

Alternative Procedure

In addition to how I indicated in the previous step, you can download the Play Store on a tablet by using Open GApps: an application capable of detecting the architecture of the CPU, the version of Android used and the correct version of the Play Store package and through which it is possible to install Google applications in a totally automatic way, or almost.

To download the Open GApps on your tablet, visit the official website of the application from it and select the link Download. If necessary, confirm the download by clicking on the item OK. If you are also asked which app you want to use to download the file, select the browser you are employing.

Once the download procedure is complete, install the app by opening the APK package obtained. In response to the warning you see appear on the display and / or in the Android notification center, then select the item apri and tap on the words Install e end. Next, start the application by tapping its icon which has just been added to the drawer and follow the proposed wizard to proceed with the download of the Google apps.

To be precise, what you need to do is select the freccia verse destra found below, accept the terms of use of Open GApps by clicking on the button Accept, press the buttons Grant permission and then on the rumors Allow, to grant the app write and root permissions; then you have to press again on arrow placed at the bottom right for three consecutive times and tap on the item Done.

In the settings summary screen that you now see, tap the item Download, in order to start downloading the correct Play Store package for your device. When the process is complete, press on the item Install located at the section Install package pop up at the bottom, then do ta on the buttons Next / Install, Install e end.

Finally, restarts your device. The next time you turn it on, you should find theicona from Play Store (the multicolored ▶ ︎ symbol) in the Android drawer and you should be able to use it without problems.

Alternative Solutions to the Play Store

Did you follow the instructions I gave you in the previous lines in detail but were unable to download the Play Store on your tablet? Under the circumstances, you can consider coping with it by relying on some alternative stores for the Google mobile platform.

In this case, however, keep in mind that download applications from sources outside the Play Store can increase the chances of compromising the proper functioning of your device, as controls are more limited (in some cases even absent) and you could therefore run the risk of encountering cyber threats. In light of this, I advise you to evaluate the use of a third-party app store only and exclusively if you have well understood the possible dangers deriving from the thing and only if there is actually no possibility of using the Play Store.

Also keep in mind that when you download apps from an alternative store, it is essential that the support for unknown origins is enabled, as I explained in the passage at the beginning of the article, otherwise you will not be able to install it.

Having made all the necessary clarifications above, below you will find listed what I believe to be the most reliable alternative app stores for Android.

  • Amazon AppStore - is the app store of Amazon, the giant of electronic commerce. It contains many apps and games at no cost and is practically the only one to offer a level of security equal to that of the Play Store.
  • APKMirror - is a very famous site for downloading apps for Android in APK format. All content is verified and is managed by AndroidPolice, a famous site in the international Android community.
  • TorrApk - alternative store for Android applications designed primarily for low-end devices, as it allows you to download APK files of applications that, according to Google's guidelines, do not have the necessary requirements to be installed.
  • AppBrain - it is another famous store for Android devices, through which you can download apps and games. It also offers a handy feature to track applications downloaded to your device, so you can view related content.
